Sugar Bob’s Maple Syrup

March 15 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Maple Syrup Tasting
During Vermont’s long winters, Rob, known as “Sugar Bob,” would eagerly await the first signs of spring. As the temperatures began to rise, he would gather the sap buckets passed down through generations of his family and head into the forest, where the tall maple trees stood waiting. In his documentary, available on YouTube, Sugar Bob can be seen thanking each “Runner” tree with a heartfelt hug after collecting the sap, showing his deep respect and gratitude for the sweet gift the trees provide after Vermont’s harsh winters. Once tapped, the sap-filled buckets remain for about six weeks, gradually filling with nature’s sweetness. Sugar Bob takes great pride in his careful process of collecting the sap, pouring each bucket into his 325-gallon tank to boil it down into thick, golden maple syrup. The whole community looks forward to syrup season, gathering at the Sugarhouse from dawn till dusk to taste the irresistible flavor. For Sugar Bob, the true value in life is bringing people together to share joy, laughter, and a love for sugar. His care for nature, humanity, and deep connections is what makes his work so much more than just syrup—it’s a celebration of life itself. Celebrate with us at Bailey’s Produce and Nursery Saturday, March 15th from 11am-1pm. We’d love to see you there!
